  • Adding Images in Posts

In order to add an image to a discussion, you need to first have a url to the image. This means that you have to upload the image to somewhere on the internet.

One easy way to do this is to use www. www.postimage.com.

You need to upload your image (remember anyone can see the image by reading a posting here, or other methods). After you upload the image you need to copy the 'html' line and paste it into a discussion comment.

Here is the format of an image in html. (only needed if you do not use postimage.org)

      <img src="http://site.com/pictlink.jpg"/>

This forum does not use BBCode - rather it uses html.

  • Adding Link

You can add a link to a posting: Copy the template below, and replace xxx with the URL, and yyy with what you want to call it (which can be the same as the URL).

      <a href="xxx">yyy</a>

The most common reason for YepShot to stop working is a security program that interferes with data being transmitted between your browser and Yep. Try temporarily disabling any security programs and using Yepshot. Also, Try having only Yep and your browser running.

If the first fix solves your problems, re-enable the security program, and change the settings to allow your browser to send data to Yep.

If the second fix solves your problems, slowly start programs, trying Yepshot at each step. This will pinpoint which application is causing the interference.

If it still does not work, or you have a question, post about it here.
  1.
The yepshot feature in Yep creates web pages that are like 'printing' a web page. So often colours and other features of a web page will not look as you expect them. Ironic software does not have the resources to improve this feature, as it would be outside of what we do best.

There are some good tools for capturing web pages out there.

Web Snapper, a new program for Leopard, will create snapshots of web pages, more or less as they actually look and save them into PDFs. You should consider a tool such as this if you need more functionality than YepShot provides.

  2.
One more thing - If you are on a banking or other similar site, you can get a PDF of a web page into Yep by using Safari's Print command, then under the PDF 'button that is a menu' selecting 'Save PDF to Yep'. This is actually quite fast. But you still get the 'printed look' Turns out though the printed look is usually fine for banking, shopping receipts, etc..

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I couldn't find a button to add a new topic.

    I've a problem with Yep...

I have a pdf here and I want to be able to click the headings in the pdfs contents to go to a page (I get a tool tip show 'go to page x and a finger icon pointing), but Yep doesn't seem to allow this. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Welcome jon120:

On the left side of your browser in red is says "Start a new discussion". If you are reporting this as a Bug please read this discussion to format your subject line properly: Bug Reporting protocol and post in the "Yep Bug Report" forum. Otherwise just post it in the "Yep" forum. (I would assume the first option in this case).

    Thanks.

    Hi Tom,

I dont mind the print like pages. The problem I have is the fact that the page is not actually printed. Here is what happens:
I have a page on my lan network that requires me to be logged in, i.e. have a cookie. If I:
    1. Use Print and then "Save to Yep", it works just fine. I get the print form of the doc.
    2. If I use the yep shot, the pdf generated is for the login page on lan. ie. the request sent to the server does not get the cookie sent along.

    Thanks

I have a similar problem and have tried the suggested solutions so far (reinstalling Yep, playing with different combinations of running programs), but one of the suggestions (going to "print" and selecting "save PDF to yep" under the PDF menu) is not even available to me. Other programs like Together and Shovebox are in that list, which makes me think that there is something wrong with the way that Yep has been registered on my machine as a service (not that this is the software's fault, but just that something is off). Any suggestions on how to get Yep listed in this menu?

    Thanks in advance.

    jafish:

The "Save PDF to Yep" is from Yep 1.x. With Yep 2 you should have an entry of "Save PDF to Filed Documents". Cheers!
