We looked at changing the modification dates on files with OpenMeta, but it was not a good idea in the end. You need a tool that can detect changes in ctime. Or a tool that looks for changes in xattrs.

There are ways to get rsync 3 on a mac, but likely chrono sync will do the job.

That option does not work properly. I have been using rsync 3.0 with a new option -X. I wasn't sure if Apple had done some internal fixes for -E in 2.6.9 but even if they did I might as well install v3 from MacPorts and use -X instead.

I've done a basic test with the latest version of ChronoSync 4 & it seems to work fine. I created 2 folders, placed an RTF document in the 1st folder & tagged it. Then synced the 2 ...

I created 2 folders, placed an RTF document in the 1st folder & tagged it. Then synced the 2 folders. The file & tag were carried over to the 2nd folder.
Then I tagged the RTF file again in the 1st folder without altering it in any other way (e.g. editing it & re-saving it). Synced it & it successfully synced the new tag over to the RTF file in the 2nd folder again.
